Welcome to Musicians Hired

More than 30 years ago, Bod Wood and Jared Rodin were afforded an opportunity to enhance the music scene in Indianapolis. Since that time Wood and Rodin hired thousands of highly skilled musicians to make music with an impressive list of clients in recording studios, concert halls, and other venues.

We are pleased to announce that Jared Rodin, Lori Schlabach, and Blake Schlabach have formed a new entity, Musicians Hired, to continue the business Bob and Jared started.

Musicians Hired is a music contracting business located in Indianapolis, IN dedicated to connecting accomplished music professionals with a diverse array of clients seeking to create high level recordings and experiences through live performances. With over 30 years of experience in the contracting business, we understand the intricacies of both the music industry and your specific needs. Our commitment to quality, professionalism, and personalized service ensures that every performance resonates with your audience.

Who are we?

Over the past 30 years, Musicians Hired has had the privilege of working with several distinguished clients. Musicians Hired has served the talent needs for both local and nationwide events including Mannheim Steamroller and Jimmy Fallon. For over two decades, we have booked Mannheim Steamroller's regional Christmas shows, providing strings, woodwinds, and brass musicians for their renowned Red and Green touring productions. Additionally, we supplied talent for "The Late Show with Jimmy Fallon" in 2012, collaborating with Fallon and the Roots band for multiple performances leading up to the Super Bowl in Indianapolis. 

Alongside our work in event contracting, Musicians Hired has worked closely with publishers, conductors, and musicians alike to hire talent for recording projects. Our 30-plus-year partnership with Hal Leonard has been especially rewarding, contributing to the creation of their Essential Elements instrumental method books, collaborating on John Clayton’s Big Band vocal arrangements, and hiring musicians for their String Orchestra, Big Band, and Concert and Marching Band series. We've also recorded John Williams’ rendition of the National Anthem for the Rose Bowl and partnered with Hal Leonard and Paul Lavender on various demo recordings for production and publication.

  • President

    Jared has been an active music contractor for more than three decades. He is a trombonist in the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra and has performed with the Chicago Symphony, Chicago's Music of the Baroque, and the Grand Teton Music Festival. A long time ago, he was bass trombonist of the Italian National Radio Orchestra in Turin, where he met his beautiful wife Debbie, a violinist.

  • Treasurer and CFO

    Lori was Wood and Rodin's first employee more than 20 years ago. She then moved on to a career in a broad range of management, finance, and human resources functions in the nonprofit and entertainment sectors. A trained musician, Lori retired from playing clarinet years ago but gets her music fix signing in her church choir and going to live performances. Lori and her husband Blake enjoy visiting their adult children and attending live jazz performances.

  • Vice President

    Blake has been a part of the Indy music scene for more than 35 years, starting as part of the Indianapolis Symphony's trombone section. Over the years, Blake has done everything from contracting musicians for events, consulting on special projects with the Kansas City Symphony, and performing as a regular Wood and Rodin studio musician. After 20 years as Orchestra Personnel Manager with the ISO, Blake is currently the Vice President and General Manager of the Jacksonville Symphony. Blake loves all things automotive and good Italian red wine, especially with Lori and Jared.
